Full Name: Russell Yates
Age: 56
Nickname: Rowdy !! Among others which I tend not to go by (Mr A)
Mr A: How long have you been a member of TGC?
RY: 15-16 years not sure which!
Mr A: How long have you been a member of the TOGS?
RY: This (2013) will be 2nd year.
Mr A: What is your TGC handicap?
RY: 21 (after 15-16 years, are you sure you have the right sport?)
Mr A: Is this the lowest you have been?
RY: No, I've been as low as 20, yes also after 15-16 years
Mr A: What is your favourite hole at TGC?
RY: The 17th it is a make or break hole to keep a good card intact.
Mr A: Least favourite?
RS: Has to be the 8th - cannot seem to score, definitely my double bogey hole...
Mr A: What is your favourite course, you've played other than TGC?
RY: Hexam & Maften, both of which I am also a member (2 memberships 15-16 years & still 21 hcp)
Mr A: Have you had a hole in one?
RY: After 15-16 years, sadly no.
Mr A: Where do your football allegiances lie?
RY: Whitley Bay U8. My Grandson is an integral part of the squad.
Mr A: Do you have any TGC honours?
RY: Thought you would never ask. I am half of the current doubles Silver Salver champions. My partner, hero & mentor is Murray Newell.
Mr A: More importantly, do have any TOGS Winter League honours?
RY: Yes 2013. Friendly Friday Trophy, Winner 2013.
Mr A: What's the favourite club in the golf bag?
RY: My driver (After 15-16 years, 21 hcp does not suggest that.)
Mr A: Interests outside of golf?
RY: Music & my guitars. Just bought a new best friend, a bass called Jack Cassidy and with the fee from this interview I intend to buy a Les Paul custom guitar. (After 15-16 years and still 21 hcp, can I suggest golf lessons instead.)
Mr A: Favourite cartoon character?
RY: Daz & Will
Mr A: Tell me a bit about your covert operations as a parky at TGC?
RS: It's a way letting people know somebody is patrolling the course, which has its successes and gave me the power to once again don a uniform!!
MR A: Who would you ideal 4 ball be?
RS: Myself and any other 3 TOG members.
MR A: If you had the power (which will never happen!) to change one thing in the TOGS, what would it be?
RS: To see more of the Togs in the summer (that's what he said)
Mr A: What would you do with your last £50?
RY: Haven't got £50!!
KNOW THE RULE ! DON'T BE A FOOL !
Q: The senario:- Rusty is playing alongside his opponent and decides to remove some debris from his putting line using his cap (its a large cap). What is the penalty?
A: 1 stroke penalty
Sadly, Rusty has answered incorrectly! You would think after 15-16 years, he would have got that one. BUT in true game show fashion, this is what he could've won?
A two week break for 2 in New Orleans, all expenses paid. £2000 spending money, plus a guitar of his choice, and unlimited golf lessons.
Consolation! He takes away 3 recycled golf balls in a used sleeve
By the way, the correct answer is "There is no penalty provided you do not press anything down" - Join me again next week for, "On the T with Mr A"
