Will Smith 26pts. David Bavaird 25pts. Cockney Pride kicked ass this week, with new member Mick Nealon sweeping all aside with a great 21pts on the front, and a winning 36pt total. The weather made it a game of two halves, as the wind got up on the back nine causing problems for all of us. Murray got his season back on track with a steady 35pts. Fellow newcomer Kevin Berry continues to show some good early form (34pts) and will be one to watch along Mick and Ian Jeffrey, the latter recording this weeks only TWO, much to our dismay!!! WEEK 7: 15 NOVEMBER 2014
Front nine Larry Page 22pts. Back nine Duncan McCree 23pts. Match Andy Wall 40pts. Twos No Twos. Andy Wall 40pts. Stephen Arkle, Duncan McCree, Murray Newell, Larry Page 39pts. Micky Burn, Mick Nealon 38pts. Eddy Stothert 36pts. Russell Yates 34pts. John Mitchinson, Steve Todd 33pts. Michael Best 30pts. On an unusually calm Saturday morning, the course softened by the overnight rain. It was a case of get your clubs out and make a good score and inroads on our League leader Le Plec. (It didn't happen!) Just like the buses, you wait six weeks for a 40 pointer then low and behold another comes along right behind it. This one belonged to new Tog Andy Wall and after five scores, he is becoming a serious contender. However Andy was followed home by seven other Togs, all probably thinking they had a chance to run off with the loot. Their collective total of 268pts, at an average of 38.2pts (4 x 39's and 2 x 38's and a 36) Andy's tidy card of 20pts front and back looks straight forward, but he did have to hit the shot of the day at the 18th to secure his hard earned 40pts. Having pushed his second shot right, he found himself 80 yards from the green and slightly blocked out by the trees. A wedge over the said timber, landing the ball a foot from the pin. Job done. Easy Par 4 that 18th. I'm sure the afore mention seven were chuffed for him. No twos again this week. Must be losing their touch! TOGS Saturday 13th December 2014. TOGS Xmas night out for a few beers and a get together away from the golf club. Meet in the Cumberland Arms, Tynemouth. 7:30 for 8. If you fancy it? |

Ian Jeffrey 37pts. Larry Page 36pts. Andy Wall 34pts. Kevin Berry, Michael Best, John Mitchinson, Russell Yates 33pts. Duncan McCree 32pts. David Bavaird, Murray Newell, Steve Todd 31pts. Will Smith 29pts. Hospitalised last week, like a Phoenix, the Tin Man rose from his sick bed, stepped up to the plate and showed his metal, to record a season high and magnificent 40pts. What's that expression - "Beware the injured Golfer" Well done Stevie. Darryl and Eddy, however will not share in his joy, they will be slightly miffed, having both recorded normally winning scores of 38pts. The Quiet Man, Togs newcomer, Ian Jeffrey (37pts) continues to impress, as makes his way up the league. "Le Plec" (36pts) is still stringing us all along, sitting pretty at the top of the table and after six rounds is first through the magic 200 barrier. Game On. Andy Wall (34) was the only other to make par. The rest were also ran's. Nobody could manage a two this week. WEEK 8: 22 NOVEMBER 2014
Front nine Mick Nealon 23pts. .Back nine Ian Jeffrey, Tony Frost 23pts. Match Ian Jeffrey 41pts. Twos Michael Best @ the 3rd hole. Ian Jeffrey 41pts. Duncan McCree, Mick Nealon 40pts. Darryl Ridley, Will Smith 38pts. Tony Frost, Eddy Stothert 37pts. John Mitchinson, Russell Yates 36pts. Michael Best, Larry Page 34pts. Andy Wall 33pts. Stephen Arkle, John Grant 30pts. Another high scoring Saturday, 15 Togs and an average overall score of 36.2pts, pretty impressive. Top of the pile, The Quiet Man(Ian Jeffrey) 41pts from Mick and Duncan both recording excellent 40 pointers. There's still a long way to go, but the top of the table is looking like this could be the hardest title chase in Togs history ?? Bring it on ! |
WEEK 9: 29 NOVEMBER 2014
Front nine Michael Best, Mick Nealon 20pts. Back nine Murray Newell 21pts. Match Michael Best, Eddy Stothert 38pts. Twos Micky Burn @ the 7th hole. Michael Best, Eddy Stothert 38pts. Russell Yates 37pts. Mick Nealon, Murray Newell 35pts. Dave Archbold, Ian Jeffrey, Duncan McCree, Larry Page 34pts. David Bavaird, Michael Burn, Darryl Ridley 33pts. Kevin Berry, Andy Wall 32pts. Will Smith 29pts. Stephen Arkle 24pts. After the dizzy heights of the last two weeks, a wet and barely playable golf course brought the scores back down to earth, with an average score this week of just 31. Michael Best and Eddy Stothert topped the charts this week, both having 38 very good points. Eddy moved up to second in the table as result of his score, cutting Larry's lead at the top, back to one point. RB6(Rusty) recorded a personal season high 37pts, to burst into the 200 club. One Knock Out Singles match played this week, and a good one it was too, David slew Goliath(Micky Burn) in a ding dong contest going all the to last to decide the winner. Micky did however, have some consolation in knocking an excellent putt on the 7th hole to take all of today's Twos pot. Last but not least ? Could you please make sure you put the correct ? Exact handicap on your scorecard before you tee off ? Thank You. |
