KNOW THE RULE! DON'T BE A FOOL !
Q: During the first round of a 36 hole stroke play comp which was scheduled to be played over 1 day, a player having holed out on the 3rd hole, plays a practice putt on the 3rd green. What is the ruling.
A: The player incurs a 2 stroke penalty.
Sadly, The General has answered incorrectly! BUT in true game show fashion, this is what he could've won?
A two week break for two in IRELAND with tickets to see the Spinners (or was it the Dubliners - not sure!), all expenses paid AND a £1000 spending money.
Consolation! He takes away 3 recycled golf balls in a used sleeve
Correct answer: NO PENALTY Rule 7-2 permits a player between the play of two holes to practise putting or chipping on or near the putting green of the last hole played or the teeing ground of the next hole to be played in the round, provided such practice stroke is not played from a hazard and does not unduly delay play.
On a lighter note this interview normally takes 10 minutes. However John broke all records he answered every question 3 times with a different answer each time, not to mention a visit to the trophy cabinet to confirm what he had won. That changed from the Craven salver to the Graham cup - total time 25 minutes - add that to your list of honours!!
